From April 15th to 18th, 2024, SVI.MED. facilitated the second meeting of the URWAN project in Ragusa and Ferla, marking a significant milestone as the partners gathered in person for the first time. This event transitioned a mere list of names and emails into a cohesive working group, fostering collaboration among individuals and organizations alike.
Approximately 30 representatives from Bosnia-Herzegovina, Cyprus, Italy, Malta, Portugal, Slovenia, and Spain convened to reaffirm their shared objective of advocating for unconventional water sources and the integration of multifunctional nature-based solutions (NbS) to combat environmental challenges in urban areas. These solutions aim to enhance urban resilience and adaptability to climate change.
During the meeting, following a vibrant lunch at Catania’s historic market ‘A Piscaria, participants had the opportunity to explore the Green Roof at the University of Catania, a project realized under the Italy-Malta initiative, Gifluid. This visit offered valuable insights into the potential of NbS, blending technical expertise with the aesthetic appeal of the installation.
The event served as a promising foundation for fruitful collaboration among the international partners of the URWAN project. Stay tuned for further updates on upcoming meetings and project developments!
