From April 15th to 18th, 2024, SVI.MED. hosted the second URWAN project meeting in Ragusa and Ferla, marking the first in-person gathering of the partners. This event transformed a list of names and emails into a real working group, fostering cooperation among people as well as organizations.
The meeting brought together around 30 representatives from Bosnia-Herzegovina, Cyprus, Italy, Malta, Portugal, Slovenia, and Spain. The partners reaffirmed their common goal of promoting the use of unconventional water sources and the adoption of multifunctional nature-based solutions (NbS) to address environmental challenges in urban areas, enhancing their resilience and adaptability to climate change.
During the meeting, after a lively lunch at Catania’s historic market ‘A Piscaria, participants visited the Green Roof at the University of Catania, created as part of the Italy-Malta project, Gifluid. This visit provided valuable insights into the potential of NbS, combining technical information with the beauty of the installation.
The event was an excellent starting point to ensure fruitful cooperation among the international partners of the URWAN project. Stay tuned for further updates on upcoming meetings and project developments!
