On 11 June 2026 (09:30–13:00), the URWAN project will host a dedicated side event in Brussels, titled “Democratic Landscapes of Water: Transforming Green Spaces through Participation, Art and Care”, coordinated by ANCI Lazio and held at the Lazio Region Office.
The event will bring together policymakers, researchers, urban planners, and local stakeholders to explore how urban green spaces can be reimagined as democratic and inclusive environments, where water, nature, and communities interact through participatory processes, artistic practices, and collective care.
Focusing on nature-based solutions and water-sensitive urban design, the discussion will highlight innovative approaches to urban regeneration, community engagement, and environmental sustainability. Participants will have the opportunity to learn from practical experiences and case studies developed within the URWAN project and other European initiatives.
By connecting local practices with European policy debates, the event aims to contribute to ongoing reflections on how to design and manage more resilient, inclusive, and sustainable cities. It will also provide a valuable space for networking and knowledge exchange, fostering collaboration among cities and stakeholders involved in the Interreg Euro-MED Programme.
