On 8 June 2026, a technical visit to the URWAN Pilot Building in Cuba was carried out together with IRIDRA and the Municipality of Cuba, to monitor the implementation of Nature-Based Solutions (NBS) and verify their operation on site.
The visit included a training session for the technical staff of the Municipality of Cuba, led by IRIDRA, which was responsible for the conceptual design of the solutions, with the support of TERRACELL, responsible for their construction.
During the training, participants addressed the operating principles of the system, operation and maintenance procedures, monitoring practices, and the identification of potential anomalies, preparing the technical team to ensure the long-term management of these infrastructures.
The activity highlighted the importance of knowledge and capacity building in ensuring that Nature-Based Solutions can reach their full potential. Investing in the training of local teams helps ensure that these solutions can continue to generate environmental and social benefits for the community over the long term.
The technical visit and training represented another important moment of collaboration and knowledge transfer between URWAN partners and the Municipality of Cuba.
